Happy February!
Hope that you are enjoying your week thus far. Just a couple of notes for this week:
1. I emailed mid-terms for all high school students on Monday, January 31st. If you have any questions about these mid-term reports, please let me know.
2. I am experimenting this week with allowing online students to participate in my local classes via video chat. Two of my online American Lit students have kindly consented to participate and see how this works out. I have long wanted to combine my students in a meaningful way, so I'd appreciate your prayers as we work through this technology. Thank you to Amy Smith for suggesting that I use Skype to get started. Watch for more details about this additional technology toward the end of the year. God willing, I'll be able to offer many online students this opportunity.
3. I am already getting requests for Fall class information. If you are on my mailing list, and you should be if you're a parent of one of my students, I will be sending out advanced information to current families and I will also include a coupon that may be used for next year's classes. If you have changed your email address recently or are concerned that you're not on that list, please email me to check.
4. With summer on it's way, I am planning my workshops. If you have any particular needs, please let me know. My workshop last summer was awesome! I so enjoyed getting to work with students, many of whom ended up taking my classes this year. I will offer workshops in August again so that the material is fresh in your child's mind as the school year begins.
5. In looking at this year, and planning for next year, I am considering starting earlier, in August. It felt like the mid-term was so late this year! I do only teach 32 weeks, so each semester is 16 weeks rather than the traditional 18 weeks. If you have any opinions about start dates, I'd love to hear from you soon as I will make this decision some time this month.
Please continue praying for one another and for our classes. One of our fathers has been hospitalized for at least a month fighting cancer and he could really use your prayers.
God bless your week!
