Dear Parents,
It's hard to believe that we are at the nine week mark already! Everyone is doing very well and it's been a joy to teach your children. I don't send out quarterly reports, but after mid-term tests in January, I will email students mid-term reports. For the time being, if your student is in jeopardy of not succeeding in my classes, you would've already heard from me.
Reminder: We will not have classes the week of Thanksgiving, but some literature students may be required to read that week and Public Speaking students should continue practicing their next speech during that time, if possible.
I have been so blessed by some of the work my American Literature students have completed this quarter. They have written by people they love, God's Word and their faith in response to our study of Anne Bradstreet's poetry. I'd am featuring one of these poems each week so that you may be blessed as well, although I am leaving off student names for online privacy reasons.
Blessings on your week,
My grandparents moved in with us last year.
When we moved into our house it was just the four kids and two parents.
Now, eight people live in a three bedroom, two bath home.
My parents and my three brothers all share one giant room upstairs.
As you can imagine, it is cramped sometimes.
We have a table for four that we use to sit eight.
Our living room gets crowded when we all watch TV.
Dividing eight people between two bathrooms is pretty difficult.
Don’t get me wrong,
There are good things, too.
I like seeing my grandparents every day.
It’s nice not being miles away from them.
Dad graduated from Seminary last May
And he’s been looking for a pastoral job ever since,
But as you know, jobs are hard to come by and so far, he hasn’t found one.
We weren’t expecting to still live in this house today, but we are.
The reason of writing all this wasn’t to make you feel sorry for me.
I wanted to remind y’all that God is in control no matter what.
Maybe you can relate to me. Maybe your family is going through tough times like I am.
I know that I could never survive without Him.
And that is something many people forget,
But it is something we need to be reminded of everyday.
Isaiah 26:4 says, “Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.”
Now that is something worth living for, don’t you think?
